The name comes from the old basketmaker, whose nickname was 'Funky', who continued to make this relatively simple style, his 'Doodle', well into his eighties to earn a bit of extra money. Old Funky is long gone but his basket design remains. It is made with a lighter weight 'track border' on the rim and is woven in natural 'coffee brown' and green willows.
